Experimental game console MAMLAS-1 (Maneuverable Module for Land Assessment) puts the player in the role of a space rover exploring distant planets. With a limited battery, their task is to collect as many mineral samples as possible, while keeping the system stable. The exhibited console is tailor-made for the game, with which it is fully integrated in both graphical and game design. It uses unconventional but intuitive controls more akin to music synthesizers or analogue industrial control panels than a regular game console. This is the first prototype of the console, the concept of which was developed during the semester.

HOW TO PLAY

1 – collect as many samples as you can

compass sample indentification

to select correct sample, refer to the sample identification guide

2 – comm link must always be stabilized

signal comm link

3 – keep system temperature within limits

system temperature cooling heating

4 – adjust suspension based on terrain

soil suspension

driving with incorrect suspension slows you down and consumes more power

5 – using radar consumes less power

gps radar

6 – if you run out of battery, the game ends

central power battery
